When Is Physical Therapy Right for You?

We would like to advise on planning an exercise program aimed at correcting current challenges, maintaining muscle mass and strength, or avoiding potential problems in the future

  • If you have sustained a sports injury
  • Notice new or changes in joint pain and/or muscle strength
  • Have difficulty with basic movements such as sitting, standing, grooming, bathing, and getting out of bed
  • Feel exhausted and physically limited because of a recent injury or chronic condition
  • Suffer from a condition that impacts your strength, movement, and mobility, such as multiple sclerosis (MS) or arthritis
  • Recently had orthopedic surgery, such as hip surgery, knee surgery, shoulder surgery, or total joint replacement
  • Use a wheelchair, walker, or cane

Physical Therapy Evaluations

We start with a thorough baseline evaluation, which usually takes about one hour. Then, our therapists will examine and observe you while exploring your medical history, discussing your health issues, and talking with you about therapy goals. At the close of the evaluation, our therapists will present their findings and results and give you a plan for therapy tailored to your needs. The plan will include a proposed schedule and frequency for therapy visits.

The goals of our physical therapy treatments are to maximize your child’s:
  • Developmentally-appropriate body movements and functions.
  • Potential for pain-free living.
  • Ability to participate in daily activities like school, sports, and other recreational activities.

Occupational Therapy Evaluations

We provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy evaluations for all ages. Colorado Licensed Occupational Therapists perform our evaluations. They are certified through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) and are members of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Our therapists utilize a variety of standardized tests, informal assessment tools, parent input, and clinical judgment to assess your loved one’s abilities.

Physical Occupational Therapy Treatment

Our therapy, depending on the treatment plan, can include many different therapeutic modalities, including some of the following:

  • Tailored exercises.
  • Elongating tight muscles and strengthening weak muscles during active exercise.
  • Specialized equipment to help your child meet their goals.
  • Training children in assistive and adaptive devices such as braces, various crutches, and walkers.
  • Application of advanced knowledge regarding motor development.
  • Sport-specific rehabilitation to ensure a timely return to sport.
  • Individualized home program with instructions for exercises and positioning to meet your needs.

Our plans are individualized to address each child’s unique needs and challenges. And when skill and strength cannot be developed or improved, we work with you and your family to develop creative alternatives and solutions to achieve functional goals. Call us now for more details.

Physical Occupational Therapy focuses on developing specific life skills rather than job-related functions. PT/OT helps you learn and gain these critical skills through specific exercises and task-related activities. We comprehensively treat while focusing on the family’s needs and goals. As a result, our physical occupational therapists help you become more independent and successful in everyday life.
